The ART community center in Kazan is a multifunctional creative space that hosts exhibitions, workshops and performances, and also includes a parking area. The floors must withstand mixed loads: intensive foot traffic, movement of trolleys and equipment, periodic car traffic, and installation of temporary structures…

Task — solution — result

How we transformed a problematic concrete floor into a floor system resistant to washing and chemical exposure.

01

Task

  • — Provide a wear-resistant, dust-free floor covering for halls, corridors and common areas of the community center.
  • — Take into account mixed loads: pedestrians, trolleys, transported exhibits, temporary stages and structures.
  • — Maintain a visually neat appearance under regular wet cleaning and periodic events with large numbers of visitors.
  • — Ensure a safe level of slip resistance (approximately R10–R11) in corridors and entrance zones.
  • — Minimize the number of repair joints and dirt-accumulation areas, and simplify future floor maintenance.

02

Solution

  • — The base uses a hardened concrete floor system with dry Refloor CT-S600 hardener applied to freshly laid concrete, providing high wear resistance and resistance to abrasive loads.
  • — The concrete slab is designed with load distribution from foot traffic and vehicles in mind, with slopes and the layout of expansion joints engineered in advance.
  • — On fresh concrete, the hardener was evenly applied, followed by trowelling and subsequent finishing to obtain a dense, low-porosity surface.
  • — In high-load areas (ramps, parking spaces, vehicle traffic lanes), enhanced hardening and stricter quality control of trowelling were provided.
  • — A protective sealer and markings were applied: navigation lines, graphic elements and pictograms that help visitors orient themselves and visually separate functional zones.

03

Result

  • — A level, dust-free floor covering with a total area of about 3,500 m² was obtained, resistant to intensive use and regular cleaning.
  • — The floors withstand mixed loads from pedestrians, trolleys and cars without potholes or local destruction.
  • — Thanks to the choice of the Refloor CT-S600 system, the risk of premature wear and frequent repairs has been reduced.
  • — Graphic elements and markings on the floor support the modern image of the community center and help organize flows of visitors and vehicles.
  • — The surface retains its presentable appearance even after large-scale events with many guests.

Client testimonial

«It is important for us that the space remains “alive”: events are constantly held, stages are assembled, cars arrive. The floor withstands all these scenarios, while looking neat and not requiring complex maintenance» — generalized feedback from the community center management team (demonstration quote for the website).
