Task — solution — result

How we transformed a problematic concrete floor into a floor system resistant to washing and chemical exposure.

01

Task

  • — Provide a durable decorative floor covering in areas with intense visitor traffic.
  • — Integrate the floor pattern and colour into the architectural concept of a modern cultural space.
  • — Ensure comfortable and safe movement for people, including children and elderly visitors (approximate R-class R10–R11).
  • — Minimise the number of joints and dirt-accumulation points to simplify daily cleaning.
  • — Maintain the possibility of local repairs without completely replacing the floor.

02

Solution

  • — Decorative mosaic floors based on Linolit TERRAZZO on a prepared concrete substrate were chosen.
  • — The substrate was levelled, ground and prepared with strength and adhesion control.
  • — A unified floor pattern with soft colour transitions was created to support the centre’s brand graphics and interior solutions.
  • — After strength gain, grinding, polishing and application of a protective layer were carried out to simplify cleaning and increase wear resistance.
  • — In passage areas and at entrances, a surface with enhanced anti-slip effect (approx. R10–R11) was provided.

03

Result

  • — A flat seamless decorative floor was obtained, visually uniting lobbies and waiting areas into a single space.
  • — The floor withstands regular use during events, visitor flows and furniture movement without noticeable loss of appearance.
  • — Thanks to a smooth but non-slippery surface, walking comfort increased and injury risks decreased.
  • — Terrazzo floors became part of the cultural centre’s visual identity and emphasise the status of a modern public space.

Client testimonial

“After launching the facility we saw that the floor not only decorates the space but also withstands active operation: events, people flows, cleaning before and after activities.” The quote is based on a typical feedback from the management team and is used as a demonstration.
