How we transformed a problematic concrete floor into a floor system resistant to washing and chemical exposure.

Task
- — Provide hygienic floors that meet the requirements for school catering facilities.
- — Ensure resistance to frequent washing with detergents and disinfectants.
- — Protect the concrete from penetration of fats, colorants, and food contaminants.
- — Create a safe surface for staff with anti-slip properties in areas with water and steam.
- — Minimize downtime during installation and subsequent repairs of the flooring.

Solution
- — In production and washing areas, a system based on Linolit Lincrete SL was used as a wear-resistant coating with high chemical resistance.
- — In auxiliary and storage rooms, a Praspan EP epoxy coating was applied, resistant to trolleys and handling equipment.
- — Particular attention was paid to junctions with floor drains, skirtings, and equipment bases to avoid stagnant moisture and dirt accumulation.
- — The surface was selected with an approximate slip-resistance class of R11–R12, suitable for wet and grease-intensive kitchen zones.
- — The work was carried out in stages, which makes it possible to use a similar scheme at operating plants with minimal downtime.

Result
- — A durable, dust-free, and easy-to-clean coating was obtained across the production and warehouse areas.
- — The floor is resistant to typical loads of a school catering plant: liquid spills, frequent washing, movement of trolleys and racks.
- — The surface remains even and safe for staff, reducing the risk of injuries and slipping.
- — Thanks to the correctly selected Linolit Lincrete SL and Praspan EP systems, the frequency of repairs is reduced and the service life of the floor is extended.
