Reference project for the TANECO oil refinery in the cities of Nizhnekamsk and Bavly. A complex of areas with intensive chemical and mechanical loads required polyurethane-cement Linolit Lincrete floor systems and Refloor CT-S300 hardened concrete. The case is used as a demonstration of solutions for heavy petrochem…

Task — solution — result

How we transformed a problematic concrete floor into a floor system resistant to washing and chemical exposure.

01

Task

  • — Key objectives
  • — Protect the concrete substrate from aggressive media of oil refining processes and spills of process liquids.
  • — Provide resistance to thermal shock and temperature fluctuations in process areas.
  • — Reduce dusting, simplify cleaning, and ensure safe movement of personnel and equipment.
  • — Arrange a coating resistant to vibration and dynamic loads from equipment.
  • — Ensure a long service life of the floor without frequent production shutdowns for repairs.

02

Solution

  • — Solution
  • — For zones with maximum chemical and thermal loads, polyurethane-cement compositions Linolit Lincrete SL, ST, and TX were used with selected layer thickness and surface roughness.
  • — In a number of areas, a system with Refloor CT-S300 hardened concrete was applied as a wear-resistant base for traffic and equipment.
  • — A full range of substrate preparation works was performed: grinding, opening of pores, local repair of defects, creation of slopes and junctions.
  • — The technologies took into account requirements for spark safety and industrial safety of oil refining facilities.
  • — Different slip-resistance (R) classes were selected for different zones, considering possible spills, humidity, and cleaning requirements.

03

Result

  • — Result
  • — A chemically resistant coating was obtained in key refinery areas with a total area of about 45,200 m².
  • — The floor withstands prolonged exposure to aggressive media and regular wet cleaning without loss of performance.
  • — The risks of accidents and downtime associated with destruction or corrosion of the concrete base have been reduced.
  • — Thanks to a smooth yet non-slip surface, working conditions and operational safety for personnel have been improved.
  • — The facility is used as a showcase solution for oil-refining and chemical plants.

Client testimonial

According to feedback from operations services, such floor systems reduce the number of local repairs and planned shutdowns, as the coating is resistant to chemical spills and mechanical loads. This quote is for demonstration purposes and summarizes the experience of using Linolit Lincrete and Refloor at petrochemical facilities.
