How we transformed a problematic concrete floor into a floor system resistant to washing and chemical exposure.

Task
- — Provide a durable floor covering resistant to abrasive wear from tires, manoeuvres, and impact loads.
- — Minimize dust formation and surface chipping of concrete during operation.
- — Ensure a safe coefficient of friction for vehicles and pedestrians, especially in winter and on ramp areas.
- — Maintain the performance of the coating under regular exposure to moisture, de-icing chemicals, and fuel.

Solution
- — A decision was made to install a hardened concrete floor using Refloor ST-S601 dry shake hardener on a pre-designed base.
- — The base was reinforced and cast taking into account loads from passenger and service vehicles, with a layout of contraction and expansion joints.
- — Refloor ST-S601 hardener was applied to the fresh concrete and trowelled to obtain a dense, wear-resistant surface.
- — Technological solutions were implemented for drainage of water and chemicals, as well as local areas with increased roughness on ramps and bends.
- — The floor was ground and the joints sealed to reduce vibration and noise when vehicles move.

Result
- — A hardened concrete coating was obtained that is resistant to intensive car loads and frequent wet cleaning.
- — Dusting and the risk of premature surface degradation have been reduced, which lowers the need for repairs and downtime of the car park.
- — Safe operation is ensured: the coating maintains traction even in the presence of moisture and de-icing agents.
- — The appearance of the floor meets the requirements for a modern multi-storey car park with optimal installation costs.
